Sources tell ABC13 the same phone number called dispatchers in Texas and reported false claims of active shooters at schools and claims that there were victims. In addition to Houston and Waco, ABC13’s sources said false reports were also made in Pflugerville and a fourth Texas school district. In Houston, Texas, law enforcement reported responding to an active shooter at 1:00 PM at Heights High School. Initially, the caller told police there were 10 victims at the high school, according to investigators. For safety precautions, Hogg Middle School, Harvard and Travis Elementary Schools were also placed on lockdown, according to Houston ISD. In a statement in Tuesday’s commissioner’s court, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said two students got into a fight and there was never a threat of an active shooter and there were no injuries. “The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” Houston ISD tweeted. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner issued the following statement: “I want to thank the Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston ISD for their immediate response to Heights Middle School. While reports of an active shooter have proven to be false, we are reminded that student safety and school security are of the utmost importance to students, parents and staff of all school districts. Today’s response to emergency calls reinforces how seriously our first responders take these incidents and demonstrates the ongoing training they undergo to take such quick and immediate action.” It was unclear if anyone had been taken into custody. Lake Air Montessori Magnet School, Hillcrest and Crestview Elementary Schools were also on lockdown as a precaution, according to Waco ISD. “Officers and surrounding agencies have cleared Waco High School and we have confirmed there is no active shooter,” Waco police said at 3:40 p.m. ABC affiliate KXXV reported there was a “large police presence” at the high school. Waco ISD and police reported their readiness and rapid response to the alleged threat. “That’s one of the reasons we do these trainings. Fortunately this time it wasn’t a (real) threat,” Waco police said. “We have seen on social media that there are other cities in this state that are also dealing with this incident,” Waco police said. When asked if these false reports were somehow connected, the researchers said they were “not sure.” No injuries were reported. In Pflugerville, Texas, a station at Connally High School In Hollywood, California, Hollywood High School went into lockdown after a caller told police that six victims had reportedly been shot. However, after a full campus lockdown and a massive search, investigators said no gunshot victims were found. “Recent reports of a critical incident at Hollywood High School are unfounded and, following the rapid response of law enforcement and internal classroom verification, we are treating the incident as a hoax,” the Los Angeles Unified School District tweeted. All students are safe and accounted for, according to the Los Angeles Unified School District. Jack G. Desmond Middle School and Matilda Middle School were also placed on lockdown due to the alleged threat.
