Apple allows third-party developers to create Dynamic Island experiences, which may end up including games. Kriss Smolka, the developer behind apps like WaterMinder and HabitMinder, today shared a simple Dynamic Island game concept modeled after Pong. In the demo, the game “Hit the Island” uses a paddle at the bottom to send a ball to the Dynamic Island, aiming to hit the island and make it come alive. Smolka said the game is “looking good” but that there are some lag issues that need to be overcome. Whether Apple will allow this kind of gameplay involving Dynamic Island remains to be seen, but there are undoubtedly other unique implementations we can expect to see after the iPhone 14 Pro models launch this Friday. Apple designed the Dynamic Island to morph and change shape to adapt to whatever’s on the iPhone’s screen and serve as a front-and-center information hub. Dynamic Island blends with the screen and provides at-a-glance information about apps and services used on iPhone. We’ll have a deep dive into Dynamic Island coming later this week, so be sure to stay tuned to MacRumors.
