Photo: RCMP Police in Kelowna say they found loaded guns inside a camper that was being used as a bike shop. RCMP received a call on September 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. from a concerned citizen regarding suspicious activity in the 3200 block of Amand Street, off KLO Street near Immaculata Regional High School. The call reported that a group of people were moving a large amount of items on the road. Once officers arrived on scene, they found a stolen bike at the start of a trail that led to an elaborate camp with what appeared to be a bike spice shop and five men living inside. Officers questioned the men and learned there may have been a firearm in one of the three tents. A search of the camp turned up a large amount of cash, loaded firearms, guns, bear spray and other property believed to have been stolen, which were seized pending further investigation. The police arrested the five men. The RCMP is trying to locate the rightful owners of the seized property. “These guns are now off the streets of Kelowna, but they are a prime example of why police are concerned with citizens taking the law into their own hands and entering these types of encampments, this could have been a very different outcome.” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera Kelowna RCMP spokesman.
