As night falls, the Queen’s coffin is illuminated by lights inside the hearse as it travels along the A40 in west London. The Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence brought the coffin into England shortly after 7pm. Prime Minister Liz Truss and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace were among officials and military officials who quietly awaited the flight’s arrival. An RAF pallbearer party, formed by the Queen’s Colors Squadron and commanded by Commander Brian Dunne, then slowly brought the coffin from the aircraft and placed it in the waiting hearse.
