A Depop customer was left stunned after a seller blamed the late postage of an item on the Queen’s death – saying they can’t bear to see the monarch’s face on banknotes. In an exchange on the app, which has gone viral since being shared on Instagram, the anonymous shopper asked where the order was, explaining that it has been delayed for several days. In a strange response, the seller, who is also anonymous, said they were unable to send the package due to the Queen’s death. A Depop seller said she couldn’t post a parcel because it would be too embarrassing to look at the Queen’s face on banknotes while paying for postage

After sharing the exchange online, several social media users jumped in to mock the seller and the reason for the delay The seller explained: “I am very sorry, I am devastated by the death of the Queen (Her Majesty) and have been grieving ever since. “I can’t bring myself to use cash at the post office because I see her face on bills. “I’m having a hard time coming to terms with it so I’ve had to put my parcels on Depop on hold for the 10 days of mourning. I will try my best to send your parcel after 10 days. I hope you understand my distress.’ The conversation was shared on Instagram, where it garnered 23,000 likes. Users were quick to mock the seller’s excuse. One user quipped: “Sorry dads, I got around to posting this but I heard the postman broke down and threw away all the parcels because he couldn’t bear to see her face on all the little stamps xxx.” Some users advised the seller to use a bank card instead of cash, so as not to see the likeness of the late monarch, while others posted sarcastic comments “Oh that’s so sad baby, luckily I know a few things that will help you get over this trauma faster… they’re called Visa and MasterCard,” another viewer joked. Someone else said: “Use your bank card…” “Someone with ER will empathy x 100,” another user commented. Another added: ‘I’m observing official mourning so you don’t get your package. When I looked at the £10 note I was shaking and in tears.”
