(File photo.) An appeal to the public today from the RNC following what police are calling two random and “horrific” attacks in the capital. One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a home invasion on Beaumont Street at around 7.20pm yesterday evening. The attackers knocked on the door of a house and forced their way in, where a violent confrontation took place before the suspects fled in the residents’ car. Another call came in about 25 minutes later from Maunder’s Lane in the east end, where residents of a home were sent to hospital with injuries after a similar home invasion. RNC Constable James Cadigan says weapons were used, including a knife. He says they’re not sure what other weapons were used, but one of the weapons was a knife after the first homeowner suffered stab wounds. Cadigan described the attacks, which police believe to be random, as “heinous”. He says the officers’ hearts go out to the victims, and they are supporting them and will ensure they bring the people “who put them in this to account”. The stolen vehicle was located around 3:00 this morning in the Coaker’s Meadow area in the east end. They are asking anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or who has CCTV or dash cam footage from the Beaumont Street, Maunder’s Lane or Coaker’s Meadow areas last night to contact the RNC or Crime Stoppers.
