Republican: Close borders, save lives
Contrary to President Biden’s Philly speech, “the greatest source of lawlessness in America is not Republicans,” Sen. Marco Rubio rants on Fox News, “it’s the southern border, where the president’s failed policies allow drug dealers to feed the worst overdose crisis in our country’s history.” In 2021, “more than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses,” many “from lethal fentanyl . . . smuggled into the US from Mexico.” Indeed, “fentanyl is now the leading cause of death among adults aged 18-45.” Donald Trump “worked on border security” and saw fewer “overdose deaths between 2017 and 2018.” “Biden and his fellow Democrats must stop undermining border security.” “How many more” OD deaths “need before Biden and his fellow Democrats do what is necessary”?
Schools Win: Unions, ADL Suppress Anti-Semitism
Anti-Semitism in US education “has been primarily associated with the demonization of Israel” in colleges, but efforts to “delegitimize the Jewish state are now moving” into K-12 public schools, “aided and abetted by teacher unions and normalized by mainstream Jewish groups,” warns Irit Tratt in the Jewish News Syndicate. Some union locals support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement and a curriculum that falsely portrays Israel as a “colonial settler state” founded through “genocide,” but American Federation of Teachers boss Randi Weingarten (who last year criticized the Jews as “part of the property class”) remained largely silent. Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League is “distributing cross-sectional material steeped in critical racial theories, along with praise for anti-Semitic activists, to thousands of educators.”
Conservative: Biden Hidin from the press
President Biden’s “handlers”. . . seems to want him nowhere near” to face “difficult and relevant questions . . . by reporters in sit-down interviews,” The Hill’s Joe Concha fumes. “If Biden has . . . Such a winning and game-changing message for Democrats heading into the midterm elections, why hasn’t he sat down for a TV interview in over 210 days?” Yes: “The last time the president of the United States did an actual televised interview was with NBC’s Lester Holt on Super Bowl Sunday in February.” In addition, “Biden has not given an interview with reporters at major print newspapers since taking office. (That’s almost 600 days.)”
Libertarian: Shut down the TSA
“Established just two short months after the 9/11 attacks,” the Transportation Security Administration is “the most visible, intrusive and useless” element of the “War on Terror bureaucracy,” says Reason’s Christian Britschgi. “It brought with it many of the things people hate most about airports: long lines, forced shoe removal, and sadistic government agents who give you the third degree for carrying too much toothpaste,” not to mention the utterly unforgivable groin. In surveys, passengers “report an almost 90% success rate in getting illegal substances and items through security,” suggesting that “we could safely eliminate the service and its onerous security checkpoints without an increased risk of terrorism.” So when the TSA turns 21 in November, “let’s buy them a drink less than 3.4 ounces and hope they don’t turn 22.” — Compiled by The Post Editorial Board
