Police around the GTA are warning people to be on the lookout for a suspicious vehicle described as a black Jeep Cherokee after two shootings in Mississauga and Milton.
Peel police said one person was rushed to a trauma center after a double shooting that happened in Mississauga in the area of Argentia Road and Winston Churchill Avenue around 2:15 p.m.
“We currently have 2 people shot and one taken to the trauma (center),” police said in a tweet.
Police said they are looking for a suspect described as a black man with a thin build and black hair who was wearing all black with a yellow construction vest.
He is armed and dangerous, and police said it is “imperative” that anyone who spots the suspect or his vehicle call 911 immediately.
The suspect vehicle is described as a black Jeep Cherokee with license plate # CLMZ 905.
Halton police said they are investigating another shooting that occurred in a plaza at Main Street and Bronte Street around 2:50 p.m.
Two people were shot in the incident and have been taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Halton police said they were looking for the same vehicle that was searched in the Mississauga shooting. Last seen near Appleby Line and Hwy. 407.
Police in Hamilton urged drivers to be on the lookout for the suspicious vehicle, but said there have been no incidents linked to it within Hamilton.
There is no word yet on what led to the shooting.
The head of the Toronto Police Association (TPA) — the union that represents Toronto police officers — was headed to the scene in Mississauga on Monday afternoon, but police did not immediately confirm why.
Police urge anyone who spots the vehicle to call 911 immediately.
