Apple announced that iOS 16 will be released at 10 a.m. PDT, which translates to about 10:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time. To install iOS 16 users need to open the Settings app on their iPhones, tap General, go to Software Update and click install. Apple will roll out the new update to smartphones like iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone SE Gen 2, iPhone SE Gen 3, iPhone 11 Series, iPhone 12 Series, iPhone Series 13 and the latest iPhone 14 series. Features to look forward to Lock Screen Personalization The new feature is called the main feature of the iOS 16 update as it allows users to personalize the lock screens on their iPhones. The new feature allows adding widgets, multi-layer wallpapers, custom clock fonts and more. It will also allow users to select photos to shuffle on the lock screen. Lock Screen Gallery displays a range of options including weather wallpaper, live weather, astronomy wallpaper and more. iMessage becomes efficient At WWDC, it was announced that with the iOS 16 update, iMessage will become more efficient by allowing users to edit or temporarily send iMessages and mark them as unread after opening them. Apple now lets you edit an iMessage for up to 15 minutes after it’s been relayed. To edit or send a message, tap and hold on the text bubble and select the option in the menu. Edited messages will be marked as “edited”. Full-screen music player The new update will bring back a full-screen music player on the lock screen with a larger album cover and wallpaper to match the color theme. A full-screen music player was last offered by the tech giant with iOS 10 in 2016. Users who don’t like the new display can go back to the standard lock screen wallpaper by tapping on the bottom of the screen. Changes to the Music app iOS 16 will also change how the Dolby Atmos and Lossless indicators appear next to the track genre. They are currently placed below the Play and Shuffle buttons. Copy and Delete One of the most interesting features, now users will be able to see a new ‘Copy and Delete’ option after taking screenshots from their smartphones. From now on, after users tap on ‘Done’ options like ‘Save to Photos’, ‘Save to Files’ Delete Screenshot and ‘Cancel’ are displayed.
