The 48-year-old actress, who was promoting her new film Empire Of Light at the Variety Studio, told the publication that the King delivered his speech “so beautifully”.
Olivia, who played Queen Elizabeth II for two seasons on Netflix’s The Crown, gushed over the longtime monarch and is still processing the devastating news.

Speaking about her majesty, Olivia said: “She made a promise as a young woman and she absolutely kept it with such dignity. We are all incredibly impressed by what he has done.’
He then went on to praise King Charles III’s recent televised speech: “From a British point of view, he did it so beautifully. He did it for love, tolerance and kindness, and that’s what he always wanted and did.
He continued, “From the outside world looking at Great Britain, at the moment, we have some comedy going on on one side – politics – and something so decent. I felt proud to be British. I think he will do a good job.’

The monarch’s death has been confirmed and a Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this afternoon and return to London tomorrow.”
Her son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, is now King Charles III as the world mourns his mother, Britain’s longest-serving monarch.
And as her son ascends the throne, there will also be a celebration of her historic 70-year reign which saw her reach her Platinum Jubilee this year – a milestone unlikely to be reached by a British monarch again.

Charles, the King, said: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of greatest sorrow to me and all the members of my family.
“We deeply mourn the death of a beloved sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt across the country, the Kingdoms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
“During this time of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held.”

Sam Mendes is producing Empire of Light alongside Pippa Harris through Neal Street Productions and will also reunite with longtime cinematographer Roger Deakins on the production.
Aiming to release the film in late 2022, Sam said in a statement: “I have long been a fan of Searchlight and the dynamic way they have produced and released some of my favorite theatrical releases of recent years.
“This project is very close to my heart and I couldn’t be happier that it has found its ideal home.”
