Several reports of a man exposing himself and grabbing women and girls along a Virginia walking trail have resulted in an arrest, police said. Juan Alfaro Rodriguez, 42, of Herndon was charged with three counts of indecent exposure, according to a Sept. 10 news release from the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department. It was not said what specifically the charges stem from, but Rodriguez was listed as the “suspect on the (Washington and Old Dominion) Trail” in the release. Police are investigating reports of at least six incidents in which a man exposed himself to or attempted to grab women or girls on or near the trail, the Washington Post reported. Investigators believe the cases are related. “Detectives continue to review evidence to confirm Alfaro Rodriguez’s involvement in other cases,” the statement said. In one incident on Aug. 26, a man approached a woman from behind and grabbed her around the waist without pants on, according to a previous police statement. When the woman broke free from his grasp, he ran off the trail, authorities say. Another woman was “assaulted” on the trail, which is also used by cyclists, the same day, NBC News reported. While most of the victims were adult women, some are girls under the age of 18, according to a news conference held Aug. 31 by Fairfax County police. In another incident, a 14-year-old girl reported that a man tried to grab her while she was walking her dog on the trail on the evening of August 30, according to NBC News. The girl escaped and reached home. Previous incidents occurred on Aug. 3, 15 and 18, according to Fairfax County police. Authorities are holding a press conference on Sept. 12 to discuss how Rodriguez was arrested, according to the release. Rodriguez is in an adult detention center where he is being held without bond, police say.
