The Market launched at Okanagan College as students returned to school this week and will be a resource for healthy local foods that support overall health and wellness on campus. Offering local, fresh food on campus celebrates Okanagan food and agriculture while promoting the college’s commitment to Feed BC. “Sustainability is vital to all aspects of student life and The Market at Okanagan College extends our current farm-to-table approach even further to provide students with nutritious meals,” explained Stephen Speers, Dean of Trades and Apprenticeship. “Local and seasonal food not only tastes better, but also supports the producers and agri-food industry in the region. This is a win-win for everyone.” The Market has a variety of lunch options including sandwiches, salad bowls, cold-pressed juices, teas and more plant-based foods. Customers will be able to pick up their meals daily, prepared by culinary and pastry students. “The Okanagan has become a destination for fine wine and beverages, and our students learn with fresh, local ingredients that are integral to superior dining experiences.
