Where did the Assassin’s Creed 1 remake speculation come from?
Earlier this year, Ubisoft released a video to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, featuring visually enhanced clips of the original game. As far as I can tell, this is the first time that speculation about a remake has really started to make the rounds. Then at least three insiders last week who all leaked information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage (now confirmed to be accurate, for the most part) claimed that an Assassin’s Creed 1 remake was in the works. YouTuber j0nathan claimed it was part of Mirage’s Season Pass (which we now know doesn’t exist), while others claimed the remake was simply in development with no release information currently available. Speaking to Axios, Marc-Alexis Côté denied that this happened. Speaking separately to Eurogamer, Jean-Luc Sala said he’s sure Ubisoft has no plans to revisit the game that started it all. “Yeah, we don’t do that,” Sala told the site. “I am fully committed to Mirage and I can tell you that we are not recreating Assassin’s Creed 1.” I hope to play Assassin’s Creed 1 again with trophies! In other news, Assassin’s Creed looks to be doing a bit of horror and magic with Hexe, and AC fans will finally get the Japan setting they’ve been asking for for a long time before Ghost of Tsushima fills that void.
