Diaz vs. Ferguson took place on September 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Nate Diaz (21-13) and Tony Ferguson (25-8) clashed in the main event. The fight aired live on UFC pay-per-view. We already have some spinning s*** from Ferguson. There is no sensing process here. The action settles down and Diaz seems happy to let the younger Ferguson go ahead. Blood flows from a cut on Ferguson’s left leg from a checked kick. Ferguson mimics Diaz’s sideways stance and starts laughing. Ferguson with two leg kicks. Right hand to the body for Ferguson. There’s Diaz with a clean left hand to the face and Ferguson mocks him for it. Diaz with a good counter punch as Ferguson moves forward. Ferguson leads with an elbow, but Diaz reads it and hits Ferguson with a combination. Ferguson counters with a hard body kick. Diaz finds the range and lands some punches. Ferguson’s spin attack isn’t close. Diaz ends Round 1 with a short combo. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Diaz. Round 2 Diaz with a sweet set up to land a hard outside leg kick. Ferguson sneaks a right hand through Diaz’s defenses. Diaz chases and Ferguson clips him with a jab. Diaz throws that jab with confidence. Ferguson defends in combination. Ferguson looks relaxed now and that right lands again. Diaz with a straight left. Ferguson grabs a leg and scores with a right. He lands an inside leg kick as Diaz steps forward. Diaz goes headhunting now. The cut over Ferguson’s right eye is causing him problems. Ninety seconds left and Diaz starts to turn it on again. Where Diaz left off. Diaz scores with a combination. Ferguson wants to stay in the pocket, but Diaz circles and uses his range. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Diaz. Total 20-18 Diaz. Round 3 Ferguson tries to back Diaz up with kicks, but Diaz continues to lean forward, looking for punches. A hard kick to the inside of the leg is countered by Diaz. He escapes and Ferguson just stands in the middle of the octagon, showing off a ghost watch. He falls onto his back, taunting Diaz. Goddard calls Diaz back to the center and keep fighting. Hard exchange between the fighters as the action continues, then Diaz hits Ferguson with a hard leg kick. Diaz smiles and takes a breather in the cage. This got really weird really fast. More leg kicks from Ferguson. Diaz takes a… casual approach, to put it mildly. Diaz comes in with punches. Ferguson was evasive. Diaz turns his back on Ferguson and starts yelling at someone by the cage. Diaz does a good job of taking it seriously. Now it’s Ferguson on the back foot. Diaz does damage with body kicks. He crouches down and calls for Ferguson to attack him. Ferguson didn’t look as relaxed as he did a few minutes ago. A jab lands for Ferguson. Diaz throws to the head and that’s another strong finish to a round for him, albeit an incredibly odd round. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Diaz. In total. 30-27 Diaz. Round 4 Ferguson comes back to the body with kicks. She dives for an anklebreaker and Diaz just gets out of it. Front kicks to the body by Diaz. Ferguson is successful with the jab and follows up with a leg kick. Shovel punch by Ferguson lands before kicking out. Slow start for Diaz in this round, will he take it slow as usual? Right on cue, Diaz connects with a powerful shot and Ferguson has to back down. Multiple punches land for Diaz. Ferguson just struggles to stay away from the cage. She hits Diaz with a left hook to the body. Diaz punches Ferguson to the body and then he goes back to the head. Takedown by Ferguson, but he goes right into a guillotine. Diaz sinks it and the tap comes fast!
