Residents of the entire Hudson’s Hope area, more than 1,000 kilometers northeast of Vancouver, are being asked to evacuate their homes and the area immediately and travel to Fort St. John via Highway 29, about an hour’s drive. The evacuation order was issued by the district and Peace River Regional District. All properties affected by the evacuation order are listed here. The BC Wildfire Service said the fire is currently classified as out of control. “Temperatures are forecast to rise over the weekend and no measurable amount of precipitation is expected,” the agency said on its fire website. “Increased fire behavior can be expected as temperatures rise.” On Friday, the agency said nearly 200 fires are currently burning in B.C., with 77 reported in the last week, and the fire agency says the majority were started by lightning.
