Rep. Bass, 68, released a statement saying she returned home Friday to find her Baldwin Vista home burglarized. The weapons — which had been stored safely and securely — were missing. The scammer or scammers left behind cash, electronics and other valuables, according to the LA Times. “It’s troubling and, unfortunately, it’s something that too many Angelenos have dealt with,” the Democrat added. The deputy did not specify what type of firearms were missing. A spokeswoman told the newspaper they had been secured in a lock. Bass reportedly learned how to handle guns in the 1970s when she led the Veneremos Brigade, a group that stood in solidarity with Cuban revolutionaries. He was charged by the LAPD at the time he went to Cuba to “learn guerilla warfare.” “Nobody ever came into contact with the Cuban military or received any kind of military training,” Bass told the Times in 1983. “The person who taught me how to shoot was Officer Jon Dial…He encouraged a lot of different people who had leadership responsibilities in the progressive community of Los Angeles to learn how to use guns.” Bass leads her opponent Rick Caruso in the polls. Both have pledged to crack down on crime if elected. According to the agency, burglaries in Los Angeles increased by 15% in 2022.
