There is now a BC Wildfire Service incident management team monitoring the fire with 43 firefighters and seven helicopters battling the blaze. Residents with animals are asked to make a plan to move them to a safe place. People in the alert zone can also prepare their homes by keeping firewood away from the home, clearing roof corners where trash and embers can collect, cutting grass below 10 cm, moving flammable and explosive objects away from the home, and cleaning any leaves from under terraces and balconies.

Fire officials expect increased fire activity throughout the weekend.
