The Flood Falls Trail fire is burning in a very steep section of terrain and is burning out of control.

There is now a BC Wildfire Service incident management team monitoring the fire with 43 firefighters and seven helicopters battling the blaze. At this time, no structures or infrastructure are in immediate danger, officials said. An evacuation warning was issued Friday by the Fraser Valley Regional District and remains in effect. The notice applies to the properties highlighted in yellow in the image below. Residents with animals are asked to make a plan to move them to a safe place. People in the alert zone can also prepare their homes by keeping firewood away from the home, clearing roof corners where trash and embers can collect, cutting grass below 10 cm, moving flammable and explosive objects away from the home, and cleaning any leaves from under terraces and balconies.

Fire officials expect increased fire activity throughout the weekend. Story continues below ad “Due to warm, dry conditions and gusty winds, increased fire behavior was visible (Saturday),” BC Wildfire officials said. “Outflow will continue (Saturday), with dry easterly winds and high temperatures.
