Thorsby RCMP responded around 4:00 Saturday morning to a crash on Highway 39 involving a car and an ambulance. RCMP say a Buick Skylark was driving westbound on Highway 39 when it veered onto the center line and struck an eastbound ambulance. The lone driver of the Buick, a 27-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 51-year-old female paramedic who was driving the ambulance was also pronounced dead.

They say there were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the crash. RCMP say alcohol and drugs may be factors in the crash. Health Minister Jason Copping tweeted on Saturday afternoon, expressing his condolences to those affected by the crash and saying AHS was also investigating the crash.
