During today’s Ubisoft Forward livestream, the company finally peeled back some of the levels in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the “back-to-basics” stealth-action game that was leaked late last month before it was confirmed as real. Read More: Ubisoft Officially Reveals Assassin’s Creed Mirage After Protagonist Leaks In the trailer, we see protagonist Basim Ibn Ishaq take the Assassin’s oath, saying “I Am” in multiple statements while stalking enemies and backstabbing them. The game takes place 20 years before the Valhalla of 2020, with Basim turning from a street thief to a master assassin and focusing on stealth gameplay. Ubisoft While much of this information is new, the Mirage itself is not. Previously codenamed “Rift” and originally built as an expansion to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Mirage was leaked in late August. Artwork with the text “The Forty Thieves Quest” in the same style that Ubisoft usually uses for Assassin’s Creed DLC appeared online – allegedly on the company’s digital store – before it was taken down. However, Ubisoft eventually relented and officially introduced Mirage as the “next Assassin’s Creed game.” You could tell stealth didn’t work here, especially since Ubisoft might have been pulling their own cover. The seemingly endless Assassin’s Creed engine isn’t just working on Mirage in its factory. There are three other projects underway at Ubisoft right now. This includes a mobile game and two other “major” entries in the series, one of which is finally in Japan. I know? The other three games the company is currently working on reportedly won’t land until 2024 at the earliest, though it’s also incredibly possible that they could slip to 2025 or 2026.
