Ottawa Fire Services said crews from West Carleton-March were called by police at 1:42 a.m. They confirmed the vehicle was about 30 meters off the road in a heavily wooded area between Farmview and Kinburn Side roads with the lone occupant trapped inside.

Firefighters cut down trees to create a path to and around the vehicle, then used rescue jacks to stabilize the vehicle and ratchet straps to secure it to nearby trees. The hydraulic spreaders — also known as the “Jaws of Life” — were used to open a jammed door. The woman was safely extricated and placed on a board and treated by paramedics at 2:16 a.m. Renfrew County paramedics responded to the call, the Ottawa paramedic said.
