COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Law enforcement officials have released the names of the two suspects arrested following the deaths of two Cobb County deputies and an hours-long standoff in the Marietta area. Christopher Cook and Christopher Golden made their first appearances at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on Friday. Cook faces theft by taking, which is why deputies were at the home. Golden faces charges in the deputies’ deaths: two counts of aggravated assault by a peace officer and two counts of murder. A bond hearing is set for Sept. 27. Officials from both the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office and the Cobb County Police Department will hold a joint press conference soon after the first appearances of the two suspects. ‘OUR HEARTS ARE DEFINITELY BROKEN” LAW LAW MOURNS KNOT OFFICERS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY
Deputies killed in Cobb County
Law enforcement arrested two Cooks and Golden after a standoff that lasted nearly four hours at Hampton Glen Court and Fenwick Drive near Marietta. Deputies were serving a warrant at the home around 7:45 p.m. Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens said deputies tried knocking on the door, rang the doorbell and no one answered. The deputies were returning to their car when a vehicle pulled up. That’s when Owens said shots were fired. Owens said deputies were able to radio the shooting to dispatchers. News broke just before 9pm that both MPs were pronounced dead from their injuries.
