Kingston police had closed several streets Friday morning at Portsmouth Avenue and Princess Street, which have since reopened after a man barged himself into an apartment building. Shots were fired at the police officers present at the scene. A police officer was slightly injured after being hit by shrapnel in the hand. The incident is related to a stabbing reported Thursday in downtown Kingston. Police described the suspect as a man in his 50s who was carrying a gun.
