Gatineau police arrested the teenagers Friday morning and are holding them pending a court appearance, according to a news release. Police say they may be charged with arson, disturbance causing more than $5,000 in damage, breaking and entering and fleeing a peace officer. The possible charges stem from an incident at 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday when police responded to a fire and damage call at the high school. Officers found broken windows and a fire. They told Radio-Canada on Tuesday that most of the damage was inside the school. The police investigation found that the damage caused was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. As a result of the vandalism, the school was closed Tuesday and Wednesday this week, but reopened Thursday morning, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page. The post says the vandalism was cleaned up and air quality was tested after the fire to ensure the safety of students and staff. Work to repair the building from water damage caused by the activation of the sprinkler system will continue in the coming days. The school moved to the Civic Center in December 2018 after his building suffered lightning damage as a tornado-producing storm tore through the National Capital Region in September. Classes had started for this school year on August 31.
