Police in the Kootenays are investigating a targeted vehicle explosion Friday morning. Mounties, firefighters and paramedics were called at 6:39 a.m. for an explosion that occurred inside a vehicle parked in the driveway at a residence in the 200 block of 8th Avenue in Montrose, BC. The community is located just east of the Trail along Highway 3B. A 41-year-old Montrose man was found inside the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries from the explosion. Rescuers rushed him to the hospital. “The cause of the explosion must be determined. However, this incident is believed to be isolated and targeted at this residence,” said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich of the Trail RCMP. Police do not believe the public was or is in danger. The explosion is being investigated by the RCMP provincial bomb squad, the Southeast Regional General Investigations Division and local officers.
