King Charles III has confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge are now the Prince and Princess of Wales. In his first address to the nation, the King said of his son and heir, William: “Today I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru. The country whose title I have been so privileged to bear during so long a lifetime of duty. “With Catherine at his side our new Prince and Princess of Wales, I know, will continue to inspire and guide our national conversations, helping to bring the fringe to the center where vital help can be given.” A royal source said the Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge will seek to “forge her own path” as she takes on the role of Princess of Wales – which is heavily associated with William’s mother Diana. The royal source continued: “The couple are focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time. “The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles with the modesty and humility they have approached their work in the past “The new Princess of Wales appreciates the history associated with this role but will understandably want to look to the future as she forges her own path.” People in Swansea are reacting to the news of a new Prince and Princess of Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford said he was looking forward to “deepening our relationship” with the new Prince and Princess of Wales. During the speech, he paid tribute to his mother, Her Majesty The Queen, saying: “Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – has been an inspiration and example to me and my entire family , and we owe her The sincerest debt a family can owe to its mother.’ The King pledged to “constitutional principles” at the “heart of our nation” and to serve the UK and other countries where he is head of state with “loyalty, respect and love”.
