Joti Singh Mann was getting into a Jeep parked in his driveway on the morning of August 4 when he was approached by a man wielding an axe.
Video taken from the scene shows the suspect swinging the blade at the driver’s side window of the vehicle after Mann closed the door, shattering the glass from its frame.
Two other men then join the attack, pulling Mann from his car.
One of these men was armed with a knife, which was then used in the attack.
The violence finally stopped when Mann’s mother ran out into the street to intervene. However, Mann suffered serious injuries, including the loss of a toe.
In a statement Friday, Peel police renewed their appeal for information on the case, which is being investigated as attempted murder.
They also released an image of a vehicle they say was used by the suspects.
It is described as a blue Chevrolet Cruze 4-door, with hoods, chrome trim and tinted windows.
The update comes a week after Mann spoke to CTV News Toronto about the attack, revealing he was beaten with a machete and axe, pepper sprayed and Tasered.
She told the network that she has developed post-traumatic stress disorder, is plagued by nightmares and doesn’t sleep more than three hours at a time.
