People can now start booking appointments from September 12 at 9am. through the online booking tool, according to Manitoba health. The bivalent vaccine has been developed to provide protection against two variants of COVID-19: the original version of the virus and the Omicron variant.

Manitoba received its first shipment of 27,650 doses of vaccine on Friday and will begin filling orders and shipping the vaccine to locations across the province as soon as possible. A second shipment of 77,600 doses will be delivered by the federal government the week of September 12. Story continues below ad Initial eligibility criteria for this vaccine include:
adults aged 65 and over Indigenous people aged 18 and over, regardless of where they live people age 18 and older with higher-risk medical conditions, including people who are immunocompromised due to a health condition or medication and those who are pregnant healthcare workers aged 18 and over, including firefighters/paramedics residents of personal care homes and other congregate living facilities, including assisted living, group homes, shelters and correctional facilities

The province expects to be able to expand eligibility for the bivalent vaccine to all Manitobans age 18 and older in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, from September 12, anyone aged 12 and over can receive a booster shot of the original vaccine if they choose, but all adults are advised to wait for access to the bivalent vaccine. Additionally, vaccinations will no longer be available at the RBC Convention Center after September 10th. The last day of operation at the convention center will be September 17. The Winnipeg vaccine clinic will move to 1680 Notre Dame Ave., with the first appointments available on September 20. Tours will not be available at this location. The province also recommends that Manitobans keep a supply of rapid antigen tests at home. Additionally, the EngageMB survey to gather Manitobans’ perspectives on the bivalent vaccine closes Friday.
