A federal judge in Florida has dismissed former President Donald Trump’s sweeping lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and scores of others related to the investigation into whether his presidential campaign had improper ties to the Russian government. Meanwhile, the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot could reconvene for a hearing as soon as Sept. 28, Punchbowl News reported Friday morning, as Donald Trump took to the Truth Social to rant at the Ministry of Justice. Trump’s legal woes continue to intensify as a Washington grand jury brought in to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and attempts to subvert the 2020 election has expanded its efforts to seek information about his political action committee, Save America . The Justice Department announced Thursday that it is appealing a federal judge’s decision to authorize a special master to review documents seized by the FBI from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago home. The federal agency made the move just three days after U.S. District Judge Elaine Cannon approved its request for a third party to search the seized materials.

Most Americans see Trump’s MAGA as a threat to democracy, according to a new Reuters poll
A recent poll by Reuters and Ipsos shed light on how most Americans view Donald Trump’s MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement. The majority – 58 percent of respondents – see the increasingly populist and right-wing political movement as a threat to democracy. Additionally, the poll found that one in four Republicans agreed with that statement. The poll, which polled 1,003 adults, including 411 Democrats and 397 Republicans, after President Joe Biden’s Sept. 1 “Soul of the Nation” speech also found that a majority of respondents felt the president’s speech contributed to further division in the country, even though about half of respondents said they didn’t watch or pay attention to it. It also found that 60 percent of Republican respondents do not view Trump’s MAGA movement as representative of the majority of their party. Johanna Chisholm9 September 2022 17:15 1662739237

Biden mocks Republicans: “They’re not ashamed”
President Joe Biden mocked Republicans for taking credit for the Lower Inflation Act, the Democrats’ recent bill to tackle climate change and lower prescription drug prices. Democrats approved the bill last month through a process called fiscal reconciliation, which allowed it to pass on a party-line vote since they only hold 50 seats in the Senate, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie. In the remarks, made while speaking at a summer meeting of the Democratic National Committee held in Maryland, Mr. Biden proceeded to mock Republicans who tout the benefits of the bill. “I see them out there, ‘and now we’re going to build this new bridge here, we’re all for it, and by the way this new road, and by the way we’re going to have this new Internet,’” he said. “I love it, man. I don’t they are ashamed”. Read my colleague Eric Garcia’s full report below:

The Justice Department and Trump’s legal team will file a list of special master nominees
Trump’s legal team and the Justice Department have been given a Friday deadline to jointly file a list of potential candidates who could serve as a special master over materials the FBI seized from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in August. . This week, a U.S. district judge appointed by Donald Trump granted the former president’s request for a third party to review documents from the raid and filter out items they believe should be withheld from prosecutors, either because of the privilege attorney-client or executive privilege.
