Last updated: Friday September 9, 8:53 am The police standoff that began on Thursday, September 8 ended peacefully, with the arrest of a 66-year-old man on charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and the rejection of threats. Around 10:00 am on Thursday, officers were called to a residence in the 4300 block of Wyandotte Street East for a dispute between the complainant and a male suspect. Officers learned that the adult male suspect who resides at the involved residence was holding a knife and making threats. Article continues below local sponsor message When officers arrived, they saw the suspect retreating into the home with a knife. They immediately set up a perimeter around the home and called in Windsor Police Emergency Services Unit personnel, a negotiator and the Command Bus for assistance. Officers made contact with the suspect, who refused to leave the residence. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the suspect exited the residence and was arrested without incident. A 66-year-old Windsor man will face charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
